Taman Wana Villas and Spa Jl. Taman Wana, Palasari Negara Bali-Indonesia

This is clearly the swankiest place to stay in this relatively untouristed part of Bali. The Taman Wana is about a two and a half hour drive by a good road from the airport.

The Taman Wana Villas are built on a hillside, with spectacular views over the surrounding forest and blue lagoon. The rooms feature traditional Alang-Alang roofs and classic Balinese design.

The rooms are plush with heavy use of polished wood and natural material. Rooms have all the modcons you would expect in a 5 star property and have satellite TVs, DVD players, mini-bars, and private balconies. The pool villas have a small private pool each and the main pool is elegantly designed, set in perfectly manicured tropical gardens.

The Taman Wana has a restaurant that serves expensive, but only fairly well cooked local and Western dishes. A beautiful Hotel does deserve a better restaurant.
