The Mara River Safari Lodge is a Bali attraction and Hotel like no other. The Mara Lodge is a themed Hotel to whisk you away to the wilds of Africa in style, comfort, and air-conditioning.
This will definitely be a high point on your Bali holiday if traveling with kids.
Accomodation are in comfortable round Masai huts with a balcony overlooking an enclosure with freely roaming zebra, widerbeest, and rhino. The room has 2 AC units and a large bed. It has all the modcons including the all- important electric kettle. Cable TV,( with Disney) and even a hair dryer.
Stay at the Mara River Safari Lodge for the experience; you get the park all to yourself in the late evening and early morning. Guests get a Welcome fruit basket and another basket filled with carrots for the animals. Animals regularly parade outside your balcony.
The hotel has only one restaurant though; expensive but portions were large. We liked the men's toilet, it has a glass window to watch a 2 yr old male lion called Kopi prancing around while you wash your hands. Get the waiters to watch outside if Mum want to peek into the men’s room.
The Mara River Safari Lodge has a swimming pool. You will find lots of infinity pools in Bali, but none that will has a rhino 10 feet from where you are swimming. Thankfully, the pool bar also serves cold beer. There is little to do in the evening as Sanur is a relatively long drive away. Baby animals are brought to the Lobby each evening for some close up and personal time with guests. The baby tiger and lions are fabulous.
Service was all around attentive. We recommend that you stay here if you are traveling with kids. Guests don't pay the park's admission ( for 2 adults), which makes the room excellent value.
