active volcano 2392m above sea level. The ancient caldera of Tengger
contains Gunung Kursi and Gunung Batok. These three peaks stand
in a sea of sand that is the floor of the caldera that stretches
over 10 km. For dramatic effect, nature uses this vast crater wall
as the foreground of yet another peak, Gunung Semeru. The scene
