Tuban is the area starting as soon as you leave the airport car park, working northwards until you hit Jalan Pantai Kuta. It is perpetually crowded and popular with holidaying Indonesians. It is also a good place to stay if you are coming in on a midnight flight and intend to leave the next day.

Tuban was once considered less popular than Kuta. It has found a fresh steady following, thanks to the Centro Shopping Complex and Kuta Square.

Tuban has many hotels that have seen major refurbishments and even more new ones, all glossy and stylish.

Good restaurants line the main road with a small art market peddling mostly touristy souvenirs.

The beach is nothing to shout about. Most travelers simply walk to Kuta beach for its better surf and eye candy.
